Why is ANKAA Project starting a blog?

Updated: Oct 15

You might be wondering, why does ANKAA need a blog? We already have four social media accounts, a website, and regular newsletters—so, what’s the point? Don’t we have more important things to do?

The truth is, in today’s fast-paced world, everything seems to be designed for instant consumption. Scrolling through quick social media posts has become the norm. Attention spans are shrinking, and content is often reduced to bite-sized reels, short stories, or a quick swipe on your phone screen. Research even suggests that the average human attention span has dwindled to just 8 seconds—less than that of a goldfish! This shift towards short-form content reflects our desire for constant stimulation, but it also highlights a broader issue: we rarely take the time to slow down, reflect, and engage more deeply with the world around us.

But we believe that the work we do—and the people we work with—deserve more than just a passing glance.

At ANKAA Project, we’ve taken note of this reality. Yes, we recognize the value of quick content, and we use our social media platforms to deliver it. But we believe that the work we do—and the people we work with—deserve more than just a passing glance. Our mission, our values, and our impact go far beyond what can be conveyed in a 3-second reel or a short post. And that’s why we’re launching this blog.

Education and Ethical Manufacturing: Our two main Pillars

Taking the time to reflect

Our blog is an invitation to slow down. It’s a space where we can take a breath, sit down together, and delve into the full stories that define us. The work we do at ANKAA is complex, meaningful, and it cannot be captured in a single post or video. Whether it’s our dedication to education, our commitment to ethical fashion, the personal journey of an individual or the process of creative upcycling that transforms waste into beautiful, sustainable products—there’s always more to the story.

Sewing classes: Where every stitch tells a story

Our students, our team, and the people in the communities we work with deserve the time and attention to fully share their journeys. Likewise, external contributors (invited writers) deserve a dedicated space to share their insights, express their perspectives, and highlight  the key aspects of our shared challenges. Finally, we believe our readers and supporters deserve the opportunity to engage with all these stories in a meaningful way, to understand not just what we do, but why we do it, and how it fits into the broader movement for social and environmental justice.

Through this blog, we hope to foster a deeper connection with you, our community

There’s something powerful about taking the time to tell a story, especially in a world that’s moving faster than ever. Storytelling allows us to connect on a human level—it makes space for empathy, understanding, and reflection. Through this blog, we hope to foster a deeper connection with you, our community, by sharing not just the highlights, but also the challenges, difficulties, and even the failures that come with working for change.

Diving deeper into our work

As ANKAA Project grows, evolves, and continues to make an impact, we invite you to join us on this journey. Through this blog, we’ll share the ups and downs, the triumphs and the challenges. We’ll share in-depth stories about the educational programs that support individuals and communities through skill-building and knowledge-sharing. You’ll learn more about our commitment to ethical fashion—how we’re working to change the fast-fashion industry by prioritizing sustainability, fair wages, and the recognition of our tailors. From behind-the-scenes insights into the creation of our products to the personal stories of the people who craft them, this blog will be your window into the heart of ANKAA.

Through our blog, we hope to reach a wider audience, and invite more people to become part of our story. Our mission is not only to support individuals through education and sustainable livelihoods but also to create a community that values ethical practices, sustainable living, and social responsibility.

Whether you’re in Greece or halfway around the world, we want you to feel connected to the work we do and the people whose lives are being impacted through ANKAA. This blog will be a platform for sharing knowledge, ideas, and experiences, all in the hope of fostering a deeper understanding of the issues we care about.

We believe that taking the time to listen—and to share—can make all the difference

So, why is ANKAA Project starting a blog?

Because some stories can’t be told in 3 seconds. Some stories deserve to be heard, in full, without rush. And we believe that taking the time to listen—and to share—can make all the difference. This blog is a space for those stories, and we invite you to be part of them.
